BUSINESS MEETING SUCCESS STORY

Hi Christy – I’m reaching out to share a success with you! I had a business dinner last night with two advisor contacts and my boss’ boss, who was visiting from the east coast. Our guests asked if we were ordering wine and whether we wanted a bottle. One guest said she can only drink white wine and preferred Chardonnay. Everyone agreed they were fine with that for their wine with dinner and I reached for my menu with the wine list. Normally I would have defaulted to my boss’ boss, but he wasn’t really the host of the meeting so it felt natural for me to look at the menu. I asked the group if they preferred California chardonnays (we were in the Bay Area), or if they would be willing to try a French chardonnay. I mentioned the main difference I would expect is less of the heavy oak presence in the California chardonnays. They were all on board for a French wine.

I made a joke by saying, “Ok then, let’s see which name I can butcher!” That made me less nervous to try to request the selected wine from the waiter, everyone laughed. I selected a bottle of Domaine Laroche Chablis, I do not recall which vintage. I tasted the first pour and I was relieved that I enjoyed it and thought it would pass the test for the group (for a $45 bottle of wine, it wasn’t the cheapest but it was in the lower half of the menu range).

This morning the executive I had at dinner sent me a note that said, “Btw, the wine you selected last night was delicious. Impressive.”

Thank you!!!   Jennifer, Regional Sales Director
